Countertop dishwasher best picks for small kitchens

If you're searching for the countertop dishwasher best for your space, start with one question: do you have a sink connection for a permanent install, or do you need a unit that fills from a tank? Most small-kitchen buyers in this category want a portable countertop model with a built-in water tank and no hookup. That is the type this guide covers.

Short answer

For most apartments, dorms and RVs, the EUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher Portable is the pick to shortlist first. Its listing describes six wash programs, no hookup needed and a compact body. If you want a lower-priced alternative with a strong sales record, the NOVETE Portable Countertop Dishwasher for small apartments is the one to compare against it.

How we researched

We compared three Amazon listings from the current set, checked the product descriptions and star ratings, and read the top ranked countertop dishwasher roundups and retailer pages for the specifications and claims they repeat. We also checked where those sources disagree. This guide compares products using manufacturer specifications, current Amazon listings and owner reviews; we did not test them hands-on.

Buying criteria

Weigh these in order. Size and fit come first, because a unit that does not fit your counter or cabinet is useless. Then capacity and number of wash programs. Then noise, which matters in apartments and open-plan homes. Last, the Amazon rating and number of ratings, which tell you how much owner feedback sits behind a model.

How we chose

We ranked the three picks by the criteria above, using only the specifications and listing data we could confirm. We used manufacturer and product listing claims, a few established roundup sources, and Amazon ratings as shown on the listing. No product was tested hands-on for this guide. The guide is updated when listings, ratings or specifications change.

EUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher Portable

The EUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher Portable fits readers who want a portable unit for an apartment, dorm or RV. A search snippet for a roundup of countertop dishwashers describes it with six programs and a compact, no-hookup design, and that is the main case for it. It also has 4.4 stars from 1,000 ratings on Amazon and sits in the $100–$300 tier.

The drawback is the noise data. The listing text cites both 40 dB and 52 dB, and those two figures do not clearly describe the same thing. Check the manufacturer page before you assume it is quiet enough for a shared wall.

COMFEE' Countertop Dishwasher

One roundup names the Comfee Portable Mini Dishwasher, which it describes as a 5L unit, as a top overall pick for cleaning performance. The Amazon listing for COMFEE' Countertop Dishwasher shows 4.1 stars from 3,700 ratings, the largest count among the three picks, and 600+ bought in the past month. Those numbers suggest wide use, but its star rating is the lowest here.

Before you buy, confirm that the listing is the same model the roundup describes. The 5L capacity comes from that roundup, not from the Amazon listing, so check the listing capacity yourself.

NOVETE Portable Countertop Dishwashers

The NOVETE Portable Countertop Dishwasher for small apartments is marketed for tight spaces. It has 4.4 stars from 2,500 ratings on Amazon and sits in the $100–$300 tier. That combination of rating and volume makes it a sensible second option if the EUHOMY does not fit your setup.

Our sources do not list its capacity, noise level or hookup details, so we leave those out. Read the listing specs before you measure your counter.

Where sources disagree

Roundups do not agree on one winner. One 2021 roundup named the Black + Decker Compact Dishwasher its editor's choice and the Farberware portable its runner-up, while a newer roundup put Comfee first for cleaning. Those rankings were built on different testers and different years, so treat them as opinions on a snapshot, not a settled ranking. The more useful point is that several sources agree on the same type: compact, portable and built around a water tank.

A permanent under-counter model is a different product. One retailer page for a SPT countertop dishwasher says it fits under most cabinets and has a stainless steel interior and spray arm. Check your cabinet height and whether you have a drain and water line before you choose that route.

How to choose

If you rent and cannot connect to a sink, pick a portable tank model such as the EUHOMY or NOVETE. If noise is your main worry, check the listing's stated decibel figure first and confirm it on the product page, because the EUHOMY listing figures are unclear. If you want the most owner feedback behind a model, the COMFEE listing has the largest rating count, though its star average is lower.

Who should skip a countertop model

Skip a countertop unit if you cook for a family and wash large pots every day, because the tank capacity will limit each cycle. Skip it too if you have a permanent hookup and want a full-size dishwasher, since the countertop models here are not a substitute for that.

FAQ

Are countertop dishwashers worth it for small kitchens?

For one or two people, usually yes. They clean a day's dishes without taking up much counter space. Check the capacity and program count against how much you cook.

Do portable countertop dishwashers need a sink connection?

The three picks here are described as no-hookup or tank-fed models. Check each listing before you buy, since setup varies by model.

How do I compare noise levels?

Use the decibel figure from the manufacturer page, not from a search snippet. Figures in listing titles can be unclear.

Conclusion

For most small kitchens, start with the EUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher Portable and compare it with the NOVETE model. Confirm the noise figure, capacity and hookup details on each product page before you buy. Your space and your dish volume should decide, not a ranking.
