24-inch portable dishwasher guide: picks and trade-offs

If you need a 24-inch portable dishwasher that rolls up to your sink, the GE 24-inch portable with a sanitize cycle has the most complete published specifications in our research. The SPT SD-6513WA is a lower-evidence Amazon alternative. Sudsspot may earn a commission if you buy through the Amazon links in this guide, and the price you pay does not change.

How we researched

We compared four 24-inch portable dishwasher listings: two GE models whose specifications appear on two retailer pages, and two SPT models sold on Amazon. We used the manufacturer-style specification tables in those pages, plus the star ratings and rating counts shown on Amazon and the GE retailer page. We did not run any of these machines ourselves. This guide compares products using manufacturer specifications, current Amazon listings and owner reviews; we did not test them hands-on.

Short answer

Choose the GE 24-inch portable with a sanitize cycle if you want the most listed detail: 12 place settings, a three-level wash, a sanitize option and a one-year parts and labor warranty. Choose the SPT SD-6513WA if you want an ENERGY STAR model on Amazon and you are comfortable with a smaller rating sample. Both fit the 24-inch width most small kitchens need.

At a glance

Price bands: the GE and SPT Amazon listings are both in the over $300 tier, so compare on fit and features rather than price.

Buying criteria

We weighted these criteria in order. First, fit: a 24-inch width and the height that fits your counter or cabinet space. Second, capacity, measured here by listed place settings. Third, noise, listed in decibels. Fourth, wash and sanitize features. Fifth, warranty. Last, connectivity, which matters only if you want app or voice control.

How we chose

We ranked options by the criteria above. Verified specifications come from the GE retailer pages. Owner experience is limited to ratings: the Coleman Appliance GE listing shows 4.2 out of 5 across 2,635 reviews, while the Amazon SPT listings show star averages from 27 and 85 ratings. Expert reviews were not used as evidence. Nothing was tested hands-on. We will update this guide when listings or price tiers change.

GE 24-inch Black with Sanitize Cycle

This model suits households that want the most documented features. The listing gives a footprint of 36 inches high, 23.63 inches wide and 25.38 inches deep, with 12 place settings and a 58 dB noise rating. It has three wash levels, a high-temperature sanitize rinse that the manufacturer says reduces bacteria by 99.999 percent, a delay start of up to 12 hours and a hard-food disposer. The listing also says the sanitize option is NSF 184 certified. You can read the full listing at Coleman Appliance's GE 24-inch Black page. Owners rate it 4.2 out of 5 across 2,635 reviews on that page.

Drawbacks: at 147 pounds, moving it is a two-person job, and Wi-Fi control needs a separate optional part. The one-year warranty is shorter than some buyers expect.

GE 24-inch Stainless Steel ENERGY STAR

Choose this version if you want ENERGY STAR certification and a stainless interior. The Metro Appliances listing shows the same sanitize and three-level wash features, plus an optional five-year warranty protection add-on. You can check the model at Metro Appliances' GE ENERGY STAR listing. That page does not list dimensions, capacity or a rating, so measure your space and confirm the specs on the manufacturer page before you buy.

SPT SD-6513WA

This is the Amazon option for buyers who want an ENERGY STAR 24-inch portable and do not need a long spec sheet from the seller. The listing is sold as a 24-inch wide portable with ENERGY STAR. It has 3.9 stars from 27 ratings on Amazon, which is a thin sample, so treat the rating as a early signal rather than a pattern. The listing we reviewed does not include capacity, noise or dimensions in the material, so check those on the Amazon listing before you order. Sudsspot may earn a commission on that link.

SPT SD-6513W

This white model has a larger rating base than the SD-6513WA, with 3.8 stars from 85 ratings on Amazon. That is a more reliable sample, but the difference in stars is small, and the specification details are not in our material. Buy it if its listed dimensions fit your space and you value the larger number of reviews.

How to choose

If you want the most verifiable detail and a sanitize cycle, pick the GE 24-inch Black model. If you want ENERGY STAR and a stainless interior, pick the GE stainless listing and confirm its size first. If you want an Amazon option and accept less spec detail, choose the SPT SD-6513WA for its rating or the SD-6513W if you want more reviews behind the score. If your space is shorter than 36 inches or narrower than 24 inches, skip all four and look at the best portable 18 inch dishwasher guide. If you need a countertop unit, the top rated countertop dishwasher picks by price range cover smaller options.

FAQ

Does the sanitize cycle mean the dishwasher is certified?

Not by itself. The GE listing says its sanitize option is NSF 184 certified, and the 99.999 percent figure is the manufacturer's own claim. Check the certification on the official manual before you rely on it.

Is 58 dB quiet?

The listing gives 58 dB, which is a number you can compare with other listings. We did not measure noise ourselves, so treat the figure as the manufacturer's rating.

How do I know a portable dishwasher fits my kitchen?

Measure the width and height of your space and compare them with the listed dimensions. The GE model is 36 inches tall and 23.63 inches wide, so confirm clearance for the door when it opens.

Conclusion

For most buyers, the GE 24-inch Black with a sanitize cycle is the best-documented pick, and the SPT SD-6513WA is the Amazon alternative if you value ENERGY STAR and accept less spec detail. Measure first, compare the listed capacity and noise, and check the warranty before you buy.
